Laying the Foundation

April: Greenwheels is incorporated with a mission to lead the shift to electric mobility.

June–July: Strategic partnership established with Uber to become its exclusive Electric Boda partner in Kenya.

August: Official launch with the first electric motorcycles on the road.

September–December: Rapid early growth, with a solid fleet solutions, operational and infrastructure base established.

Q1: Electric Vehicle Fleet expands significantly. Fleet operational capabilities strengthened, and EV charging infrastructure expanded.

Q2: Major operational upgrades and strategic partnerships drive strong fleet and fleet solutions growth.

Q3: Rapid growth — daily coverage reaches 80,000 km. Fleet drivers team surpasses 600 drivers.

Q4: Launch of driver ownership plans (rent to own electric motorcycle), empowering drivers with clear pathways to electric vehicle ownership and long-term earning potential.

Nabil Anjarwalla

Founder & CEO

A Strategy and Operations expert with a passion for Tech and Data, Nabil’s career spans 12+ years and has worked in Consulting, Renewable Energy, and the Tech sectors across the UK, India, and Kenya. The transformation of Greenwheels from an idea to a fully functioning, well-oiled machine is down to his expertise in execution.

Aliabbas Jaffer

Founder and Exec Director

Aliabbas is the visionary behind Greenwheels. Incepted in early 2023, Greenwheels was born from a realisation that a gap existed in the market for professionally run, trustworthy Boda Bodas. He holds an BSc in Engineering from the University of Nottingham and has run a number of successful businesses across East Africa.

Constantin Salameh

Chairman of The Board

Constantin is a global investor, advisor, and board director with over three decades of leadership across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has held senior roles at multinational companies and family offices, and now supports startups and growth-stage businesses with strategy, fundraising, and governance.

Kagiso Khaole

Independent Director

Kagiso has deep experience in building and scaling operations in the mobility, tech, and baking sectors across Africa. Formerly with Uber, he played a key role in scaling ride-hailing operations across the continent. Today, he supports high-growth businesses in sectors including energy, mobility, and financial services, advising Greenwheels on investment strategy, governance, and scaling.

Andrew Carruthers

Non-Exec Director

Andrew is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Novastar Ventures, a leading African venture capital fund with over $290M AUM. With decades of global investment experience spanning Europe, India, China, and Africa, he has launched and managed multiple funds and now serves on boards including mPharma and Poa! Internet, guiding strategy, and long-term growth.

Lama Makarem

Lama, with over 20 years of experience in banking, risk management, and consulting across Lebanon and the GCC, brings extensive expertise in financial strategy, governance, and investment advisory services. She has advised SMEs, startups, NGOs, and social enterprises on growth, capital raising, and organizational transformation

Abel Boreto

Abel, as Investment Director at Novastar Ventures, leads investments in high-impact African startups across mobility, energy, finance, and digital sectors. He serves on several boards, bringing expertise in strategy, scaling, and value creation.

Zakir Ramani

Zakir, having worked in the transport and logistics industries in Canada, the US, and Kenya, comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge of fleet management and operations. Prior to GW, he managed a fleet of 2000+ rental vehicles across the continent for a top 5 North American car rental company.

Arturo Osorio

H. Finance Operations

Born in Colombia and having studied in the U.S. and Hong Kong, Arturo brings a wealth of global exposure to GW and extensive experience in developing responsible financial oversight and procedures. He has worked in microfinance, operations, and financial management for 8+ years in East Africa.

Mercy Karimi

An embodiment of dynamism with extensive experience in tech startups, Mercy excels in turning strategic visions into tangible reality. She is a fervent advocate for data-driven decision-making and possesses a knack for crafting resonant, impactful strategies. Her expertise extends to collaborating with teams across SSA and MENA markets.

Ashiana Jivraj

Head of Country – Uganda

Ashiana leads Greenwheels’ operations in Uganda, bringing over 13 years of experience in leadership, fleet management, and business development across East Africa. Having previously managed large-scale automotive and heavy machinery operations in Kenya and Uganda, she now focuses on building strong operational systems, empowering local teams, and driving the transition to cleaner, more sustainable mobility.
